简历留学简历的内容要求集中强项、清晰明白，包括个人信息、教育背景、工作背景、荣誉和奖励、学术活动、发表著作、课外活动、参加团体、兴趣爱好等等要素。由于不了解西方读者的认知习惯，中国学生在写作中易陷入两种思维误区：一是过分轻视，了了数行就完事；二是过分重视，芝麻西瓜一起抓。前者除欠缺要素以外，常见的失误有：（1）每项的时间不够明确。一般而言，教育经历和工作经历要有起始与终止时间的年月，荣誉和奖励及参加团体要有具体的年份等等。（2）工作经历中要概括地叙述主要职责和主要项目。（3）发表著作要严格按照西方的标准来写。（4）参加团体最好列出在其中担任的角色等等。后者则包括：（1）重复陈述。例如在教育背景中提及奖学金后，在荣誉和奖励中重复说明。（2）列举琐事。例如把既与申请无益、也不能说明什么的六年前检查宿舍卫生的事情写进来。（3）没有重点。例如在工作背景中把一般性职责描述和项目内职责描述同等对待等等。

推荐信推荐信的内容要求真实可信，简明形象。我们在国内需要推荐信的时候往往找单位的最高领导或学界泰斗，推荐人则泛泛地谈论被推荐人的品性业绩。所以推荐信在国内作用有限（阅读者更看重官式文件提供的信息或人际关系），使用也有限（一般只用于求职推荐）。相反，作为用信誉担保的文件，推荐信在信誉制度比较完善的西方社会里却发挥着很重要的作用。它是阅读者了解被推荐人的重要途径之一，被广泛地使用于求学、求职，甚至评选、租房。在国外，推荐人一般是具备必要资格而且最了解被推荐人学习、工作、品性等某个或某几个方面的人，推荐信的内容要求真实、准确、完整，而且与被推荐人要达到的目的有直接或间接的联系。鉴于中西文化思维的差异，中国学生在准备留学推荐信的时候要注意下面几点：（1）推荐人要能够有较多机会了解被推荐人，而且几个推荐人能够从不同角度展示被推荐人的学习、工作和品性。所以被推荐人不能一味去找对自己了解甚少的院士或外国教授，也不能几个推荐人说来说去只反映了某个方面却不能反映其它方面。（2）从一般阅读者的常识看，推荐信的内容是合理的。如果公司的老板知道被推荐人上大学时某门课程的具体分数，或者大学的普通任课教师知道被推荐人全部课程的平均分数，一般来说都是不合理的。（3） 切忌推荐信的内容空洞泛泛。在推荐信中，推荐人笼统地列举被推荐人学习、工作、品性各个方面的许多优点，其实效果反而不如在合理的范围内具体地叙述三、四个优点。另外，推荐人与被推荐人之间的关系、接触时间及推荐人的****也都应该写清楚。

　I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. Withtremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am writing to ly for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.

　In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China?s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among the whole department. 　Research experience and academic activity

　When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulationprogram for transportation scheduling system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewagetreatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.

　In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.
